Cisco Certifications Target Business Professionals Eyeing Software Roles

In an effort to keep business professionals ahead of the rapidly changing technology environment, Cisco launched new business certificates and training packages this week.

The package includes a certification level for the so-called customer advocate or a customer success manager. The other certification has to do with the support of business people who are learning to build and transform businesses in the digital environment.

The training should reflect the rapidly evolving technical and non-technical environments. With this announcement, we're focusing more on empowering people with the skills they need to do things outside of the rigorous technical world and help them grow more with soft skills, said Texas Vashi, senior director, product and marketing strategy for Learning @ Cisco.

Customer Success Manager (CuSM) Certification: Cisco says this certification is about building relationships with customers. The foundation of customer success is based on increasing customer acceptance of the product and promoting customer retention and mitigation. While this was in practice for software-driven companies, it was not a big driver in the traditional business world, Vashi said.

In particular, Cisco points out that certification provides a basic foundation to help customers achieve desired business outcomes through their technology investments, increase and extend acceptance, and ensure that customers see enough contract renewal benefits. This includes a program that is led by an instructor or a complete virtual instructor and prepares students for a certification exam at the subject level.

Cisco also offers Business Specialist certifications, including: Business IT Business Specialist; Business Specialist: for sales professionals; Specialist in business value; Professional specialist of Business Value; and business IT roadmap specialist. Cisco says these certifications are designed to help IT organizations understand the motivations and desired business outcomes, help them design and implement an approach that delivers the expected value, and effectively communicate how technology investments help them achieve their strategic business goals.

Recent announcements come with other new Cisco certifications and training for network professionals. Announced this month, these new programs include:

Network Engineers:
Cisco NPDESI Specialist Certification is intended for those who have active CCNP or CCDP certification and wish to gain key network programming skills. It provides network engineers with a complete curriculum to develop and validate automation and programming skills, and directly addresses the evolving role of network engineers for more programmability, automation, and orchestration. Training for the exam will be offered as a training workshop led by an instructor through Cisco Learning Partners, and as interactive training at your own pace with videos, integrated labs, and assessments.

Cisco also said it introduced Network Engineer Programming (PRNE), a new training course at its own pace, which is of immediate use to network engineers who want to use network programming to simplify or automate tasks. PRNE is a recommended prerequisite for Cisco NPDESI certification. It covers the basics of Python programming in the context of performing relevant functions for network engineers.

Application Developers:
Cisco said it is reviewing its NPDEV Specialist certification to provide application developers with a comprehensive curriculum for developing infrastructure programming skills. It includes instructions for data management and formats, network basics and network programming, API and automation protocols, data models, operations and platforms, and controller protocols. If you pass the NPDEV or NPDESI exam, you will recertify existing CCNA or CCNP certifications.

NPDEV Certification training is offered as a training workshop led by an instructor through the Cisco Learning Partner, and as an interactive training at your own pace that includes videos, integrated labs, and assessments.

Cisco DNA :
The new DNA Implementation Essentials (DNAIE) course supports network experts who are now implementing Cisco's digital network architecture. DNA offers integrated networking software, virtualization, automation, analysis, cloud service management and security in one package.

Cisco said that the professionals doing the training are experts in computer learning and that they work as a team. including the role of orchestration and automation for controllers in DNA, integration with other technologies and implementation of security.
